To celebrate the start of the Fall 2026 semester, members of the Horticultural Biotechnology program went hiking together and enjoyed dinner afterward. It was a pleasant opportunity to welcome the new semester and spend time together.
Members of our lab visited Kyoto University for academic exchange and interaction with researchers from other universities. During the visit, we toured Kyoto University’s orchard and research facilities and had the opportunity to learn more about their horticultural research. We also shared a meal with horticulture professors from Kyoto University, making the visit a valuable opportunity for交流 and networking.
Members of our lab participated in the International Horticultural Congress (IHC 2026), a global gathering of horticultural researchers from around the world. Surok and Dr. Kang gave oral presentations, sharing their research with an international audience. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and connect with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
To wrap up the summer break, our lab members gathered for a dinner together and enjoyed a delicious meal. We also celebrated Prof. Tony’s birthday with a cake, making the evening even more special.
Our lab members enjoyed a summer outing at a valley to escape the heat. We divided into teams for games, played in the water, and shared fresh watermelon together. It was a refreshing and enjoyable break.
Jim Hong, a student of Prof. Rho and an assistant researcher at the Floral Industry Innovation Center (FIIC), visited our laboratory. During his visit, Jim led a workshop and shared his knowledge and experiences with our members. We also toured the campus and enjoyed a meal together, providing a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and strengthen our academic connection.
Our lab members attended the VPD Symposium hosted by the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (KSME). The symposium featured lectures on Agent AI and VPD-related topics, followed by a Q&A session where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with the speakers.
Our lab members participated in a field trip organized by the Horticultural Biotechnology program. Together, we visited a variety of agricultural facilities and gained firsthand insights into different agricultural practices and technologies. After the tour, we enjoyed dinner together and spent a pleasant time strengthening our bonds as a team.
Our lab participated in Kebi Farm Day at Kebi Farm in Cheonan. During the visit, members experienced blueberry picking, sampled fresh blueberries, toured the breeding research institute, and held the monthly meeting.
Prof. Junhyung Lee, an alumnus of our laboratory and currently a professor at New York University, visited our lab. During his visit, he gave a lecture that provided us with valuable insights and perspectives related to our research.
Lab members planted 200 grapevines together as part of vineyard establishment.
Our lab members attended the Spring Conference of the Korean Society for Horticultural Science. During the conference, Surok presented a research poster, while Dr. Kang gave an oral presentation. The conference provided a valuable opportunity to share our research and engage with researchers in the field of horticultural science.
To celebrate Teachers’ Day, our lab members presented Prof. Rho with a cake and carnations as a token of our appreciation. It was a meaningful opportunity to express our gratitude for his guidance and support.
Our laboratory signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KEBI Farm, one of the largest blueberry companies in Korea. To celebrate this meaningful partnership, our lab members gathered for a commemorative dinner together.
Prof. Byung-Il Lee, who first introduced blueberries to Korea, visited KEBI Farm. During his visit, he shared valuable advice regarding the MOU and gave a lecture, providing meaningful insights and perspectives.

Santa visited our lab for Christmas!
To celebrate the end of the Fall 2025 semester, our lab members gathered for a delicious dinner and spent a relaxing evening together. We also took photos at a photo booth to capture the memories and wrap up the semester on a cheerful note.
